You have been using “ComicArt CGIllust”which is the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) product of openCanvas. What do you like about the program?

My favorite tool is the Pencil. It doesn’t give you too much CG feeling! And I like the Smudge tool. If I use Smudge, colors get mixed unexpectedly so it helps the wide range of expression.

How do you think of the new openCanvas 5 after trying?

Free Deformation is the function I was looking for long time, so I am really glad that the new version is equipped with Free Deformation.

For instance, I want to draw a character holding a magazine. I can draw a magazine in a separate canvas and deform it to put into the character.

I think it enables a lot of possibility.

I don’t use Blur correction much, but I use it when I draw a long curve line, such as hair. openCanvas 5 is improved at many aspects from openCanvs 4. Please try it!

What is the theme of this illustration?

It is to create a new canvas and expand the world. As for the character, you requested something like computer so that I decided to use blue as a main color. I tried to anthropomorphize “openCanvas”. It may be a bit too unique design but hope people like it.
